Hannover is a city of gardens—and the Green Thread brings its 700-year-old gardening tradition to life along a unique route. Along 21 carefully selected stops, visitors can experience the diversity of Hannover’s garden art: from the medieval St. Nikolai Cemetery (1325) to the Baroque Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen and modern concepts like the City Roofwalks.
The route connects historic sites such as the Hinüber Garden, the Georgengarten, the Welfengarten, and Hermann-Löns-Park with green retreats such as the City Park, the Gardens of World Religions, and the Engesohde City Cemetery. The landscape art of Expo Park, the dune landscape in the Eilenriede, and the natural areas in the Park der Sinne also demonstrate how innovatively Hannover approaches green spaces.
Each of the stops represents a unique phase in the development of Hanover’s gardens—from Gothic to modern, nature-oriented landscapes.
The new brochure "The Green Thread" offers background information, maps and tips on how to get there and will be available from mid-April for €3.50 at the Tourist Info and in the Großer Garten store
