Changes to the Security Plan

Hannover Veranstaltungs GmbH (HVG) is adjusting the security plan for the Maschseefest as a precautionary measure, in close coordination with the police, fire department, and the relevant security authorities.

In light of the current security situation, the traffic safety and road closure plan—which had previously been intended exclusively for Fridays and Saturdays, when visitor numbers are high—will also be implemented on Wednesday for Queer Wednesday.
This means that from 5:00 p.m. to midnight, Rudolf-von-Bennigsen-Ufer starting at Riepestraße, Willy-Brandt-Allee, and Culemannstraße will be closed to vehicular traffic. Work to set up the road closures will begin at 1:00 p.m.
In the sidewalk area on the north shore of the Maschsee, on the Kurt-Schwitters-Platz side, octagonal blocks will also be placed in front of the heavy-duty flooring in the entrance area of the Maschsee Festival over a length of approximately 23 meters.

This adjustment is being made as a precautionary measure. The police, fire department, the City of Hannover, and the event organizers are in close and ongoing communication regarding this matter. At this time, the Hanover Police Department has no information indicating a specific threat. Regardless, the situation is being continuously assessed, and the security plan will be adjusted as needed in close coordination with the relevant parties. The goal is to ensure the best possible protection for visitors and everyone involved in the Maschseefest, and to give guests the greatest possible sense of security through the measures taken.

For guests attending the Maschsee Festival, this adjustment will not result in any restrictions on their ability to attend the event. However, there may be changes to traffic routes and restrictions on private vehicle traffic in the vicinity of the event grounds during the specified times.
