Christmas 2014: Give the Gift of Hannover and Experience It Together (November 19, 2014)

With large-scale billboards, radio spots, and the winter edition of the newspaper supplement "Tipps und Termine," Hannover Marketing und Tourismus GmbH (HMTG) is continuing its summer campaign "Mach Dir Dein Bild" with winter-themed imagery. The campaign encourages people to give the gift of experience packages for a memorable time in Hannover.

Take a stroll through the festive Old Town with your friends and meet up at the Christmas market for some mulled wine, dance with your sweetheart at the Opera Ball, or marvel at "Feuerwerk der Turnkunst" or "Holiday on Ice" with your family: In its winter campaign, Hannover Marketing und Tourismus GmbH (HMTG) invites you to experience Hannover—and to give the gift of shared experiences.

The latest issue of the Hannover supplement "Tipps und Termine" features 18 handpicked experience packages, offering plenty of gift ideas for St. Nicholas Day and Christmas. These include, for example, overnight packages for event highlights such as the 25th International Fireworks Competition in the famous Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen, the Opera Ball—which in 2015 has the theme “One Thousand and One Nights”—or the Lower Saxony Foundation’s Violin Competition. Sports enthusiasts will get their money’s worth with the “HAJ Hannover Marathon” experience package, while families can head to the IdeenExpo, the GOP children’s musical “Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella,” or the Berggarten and Sea Life.

If you’d like to experience Hannover during the pre-Christmas season—with all its sparkling lights, festive Christmas markets, the scent of roasted almonds, and magical stage performances—then the accommodation packages for “Christmas Shopping,” “Winter Zoo,” “Winter Fun at Autostadt & Winter Zoo,” or “GOP Winter Variety Show” are just the thing for you.

In addition to the supplement—whose cover features a group of friends taking a "selfie" in front of the festively lit Old Town—HMTG is continuing its "Make Your Own Image" campaign from the summer with a large-scale poster campaign, radio spots, and print ads.

"Give the gift of Hannover, experience it together—and form your own unique impression of the city—that’s the message we want to convey with our winter campaign," explains Hans Christian Nolte, Managing Director of Hannover Marketing und Tourismus GmbH.

From November 22 to December 15, approximately 1,000 posters featuring “selfie motifs” against a wintry backdrop will promote Hannover as a city break destination in East Frisia, Hamburg, Bremen, parts of North Rhine-Westphalia, and university towns such as Münster. On all five poster designs, the HMTG provides tips for group packages and activity packages. Radio spots in Hamburg, Lüneburg, Cuxhaven, East Frisia, and the Rhine-Main region will also ensure that Hannover is on everyone’s lips. The advertising campaign is rounded out by online ad placements.

All advertising materials feature a "Welcome Home" button—the logo of a "declaration of love from Hanover's creative community to their city" by the [kre|H|tiv] Netzwerk Hannover e.V.

For complete information about the summer selfie campaign and the "Home" button, please visit www.hannover.de/selfie or refer to the press release dated July 22. The Hannover supplement was distributed with daily newspapers in a circulation of 1.8 million copies within a 250-kilometer radius of Hannover and is available free of charge at the Hannover Tourist Information office on Ernst-August-Platz. It can also be downloaded as a PDF file at www.hannover-tourismus.de.
