During a delegation visit with Mayor Stefan Schostok and other representatives from the worlds of politics, business, and academia, INI Founder and President Prof. Madjid Samii signed an agreement for the Samii International Neuroscience Institute Shenzhen. The center for neurosurgery and neuroscience, which will include an operating wing, an outpatient center, and a research department, is expected to have a total of 1,000 beds for the diagnosis and treatment of neurological and neurosurgical conditions. The partner and investor is the Chinese Amer International Group.

A flagship for Hannover as a medical hub

A general hospital with approximately 600 beds, operated by the Samii International Medical Center Group and the city of Shenzhen, is already under construction and is scheduled to open in the fall of 2016. Prof. Samii, who has been an honorary citizen of Shenzhen for a year, will take on the responsibility of managing the clinics in order to implement the philosophy he introduced in Hanover there as well.

The INI Hannover is currently pursuing other similar projects in China and Iran. The opening in Tehran is scheduled for spring 2016.

“Professor Samii’s work serves as a showcase for Hannover as a hub for the healthcare industry and medicine around the world,” says Hans Christian Nolte, Managing Director of Hannover Marketing und Tourismus GmbH (HMTG).

Successful in the Healthcare Industry

International Neuroscience Institute (INI)

With over 65,000 employees and more than 3,000 companies, the healthcare industry is Hannover’s number one growth market. Already, one in seven workers in the region is employed in the healthcare sector—creating ideal conditions for successful business start-ups and new business locations in the region. With its outstanding scientific expertise, particularly in clinical research, the region plays a leading role on the international stage. Hannover is also a recognized leader in regenerative medicine, biomedical engineering, and healthcare.

Global recognition for MHH, TiHo, and others

Many academic and research institutions have gained worldwide recognition and provide first-rate working conditions. The MHH, for example, has established itself as one of the world’s leading medical institutions. Particularly noteworthy is its specialization in (pre-)clinical research, infectious disease biology, and transplant medicine. The University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover (TiHo) Foundation, with its core disciplines of infectious diseases, neuroscience, animal health, food science, and clinical research, is one of the most established institutions of its kind in Europe. The Klinikum Region Hannover (KRH), the region’s most high-performing hospital system with eleven hospitals, is one of the most significant municipal hospital systems in Germany. The Auf der Bult Children’s and Youth Hospital is also known beyond the region.
