Hanover - Summer Campaign

Longing for…

…live events, culture, socializing, music, outdoor activities by the water and in nature, city life, and family events.

Longing for city life

The current summer campaign by Hannover Marketing und Tourismus GmbH (HMTG) kicks off on July 1 and showcases the Hannover vacation region as a diverse summer travel destination. Following the international spring campaign “Vacation in Germany – Visit Hannover,” HMTG is thus continuing its leisure tourism activities into the summer.

The campaign centers on images that showcase unique, dream destinations and special experiences in the Hannover vacation region. With shots from the Garden Theater in the Herrenhausen Gardens, the lake stage on Lake Steinhude, or a boat ride on the Zambezi River at the Adventure Zoo, the campaign reminds people of what many have missed over the past two years. Live music under the open sky, enjoying the evening atmosphere at the beach bar with friends, attending events together in the heart of the city, or taking a canoe sightseeing tour through the Old Town—these desires come true in the Hannover vacation region!

Hans Nolte, Managing Director of HMTG, on the current summer campaign: “The experiences of the past two years and the rising demand since the beginning of the year have shown that vacations in Germany remain attractive. Short getaways and city trips, in particular, are often booked on short notice—in line with this, we are now offering a variety of reasons to travel to the Hanover region with our ‘Longing for…’ themes. Whether it’s finally experiencing something together with the family again, enjoying culture and live music, or immersing yourself in city life, there are numerous options available.”

The summer campaign kicks off on July 1 with social media activities and advertorials in travel magazines and travel supplements of selected daily newspapers in Lower Saxony, Bremen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Austria, and Switzerland. At the same time, interstitials and online ads will launch in selected newspaper titles as well as on websites covering travel, culture, and current events. In mid-July, a total of 12 different designs will be displayed on approximately 180 large-format billboards, 120 full-column billboards, and 550 City-Light billboards. Kassel, Berlin, Frankfurt, Göttingen, Münster, Bremen, Osnabrück, and Oldenburg will form the geographic focus of the advertising campaign. Starting in late July, this will be followed by a poster campaign on two ICE trains that will be in service on long-distance routes across Germany through the end of September.

e-magazines and brochures

Another key component of target-group-specific tourism marketing is the new e-magazines and brochures, which feature information, tips, and current offers. The latest issue of the Hannover Living e-magazine #13 provides young city travelers with plenty of events, concerts, festivals, and activities for hot days and balmy evenings. The guide “Hannover inside – sustainable travel” offers tips on regional attractions in the city’s diverse neighborhoods, graffiti tours, and beach bars in this green metropolis. The brochures on the Steinhuder Meer and the Deister mountain range provide information on day-trip destinations, sporting activities, hiking and biking tours, and dining options. HMTG’s special summer adventure packages also offer all-inclusive, worry-free options—for example, for the Maschsee Festival, a visit to the Adventure Zoo, the International Fireworks Competition, or the “Kleines Fest” in the Großer Garten—with overnight accommodations included.
