The Schauspielhaus Hannover has been hosting major premieres and world premieres since the early 1990s.
Since 1992, the Schauspielhaus, which seats 630 spectators, has been hosting major premieres and world premieres. The theater opened on Prinzenstraße in 1992, becoming the first venue to replace the smaller Ballhof Eins in Hanover’s Old Town.
Schedule and ensemble
Sonja Anders took over as artistic director of Schauspiel Hannover for the 2019/20 season. The program is characterized by diversity, socio-political themes, and contemporary drama. Schauspiel Hannover also prioritizes diversity and renowned directors—particularly women—within its ensemble of approximately 30 members. The program focuses on engaging with the local community, welcoming new audiences, and collaborating with initiatives and institutions in the city and region of Hannover. International co-productions and guest performances round out Schauspiel Hannover’s program.

Venue Cumberland
