Pattensen

Every letter posted in a yellow mailbox in Hannover passes through Pattensen: this town, with a population of more than 14,500, is home to Deutsche Post’s mail distribution center for the Hannover area. Better known, however, is Marienburg Castle, the seat of the House of Welf, which is located in the Schulenburg district and is a popular destination for day trips. Pattensen comprises eight districts. Pattensen’s old town, with its half-timbered houses, is also worth seeing. More at www.pattensen.de
